PoE power inline consumption requirements for AP4050DN-E

  Rewarded HiCoins: 1 (problem resolved)

I have a question regarding PoE inline consumption requirements for AP4050DN-E,

in my environment using AP4050DN-E with software version V200R019C00SPC300,

My problem is that APs automatically consume the total power abailabe per switchport when connected to Csico switch.

For example:

Cisco 2960:

Available power per port: 15400 mW   APs use: 15400 mW

Cisco 2960X:

Availabe power per port: 30000 mW    APs use: 30000 mW

Both switches can detect and support 802.3af and 802.3at powered devices.

I have lldp run on switch and no other power limit is set.

What is the min power inline for AP4050DN-E to be able run without problem ?

When the same AP is connected to Huawei S5720-52P-PWR-LI-AC, power consumption differs again:

Available power per port: 30000 mW   used:  5151 mW

Can you please explain the logic of power consumption here ?

what is the min. power inline for this AP?

What should i do if need APs get automatically only as much power as really need when connected to Cisco switch?

Thank you very much.

Hi,
The maximum power consumption 16w doesn't include the output power of the USB port, IoT card, or PoE_OUT port. 25.5w is the requesting power, which I think the real power consumption might lower than that value, and the 5.1w displays on the S5720 indicates the real power consumption.
Kindly check the real power consumption on 2960x whether the real power consumption is 25.5w.

Hi,
AP4050DN-E do not support hardware detection, and it only works in 802.3at power supply mode.
The maximum power consumption could reach 16w, and the actual power consumption depends on the function enabled.

Kindly refer to the figure below:

poe

So, you might find AP works when connects with 802.3af power supply, but in such situation, some functions are not aviable.

thanks, could you please clarify the other part of my question?
I still cant understant that difference in AP power inline consumption between S5720-52P-PWR-LI-AC and Cisco 2960X
2960X and S5720-52P-PWR-LI-AC - both supports 802.3at,
as you already wrote:
- AP4050DN-E supports only 802.3at
- The maximum power consumption could reach 16W
Then why AP connected to cisco 2960x asks for 25500 mW and consumes that amount and the same AP connected to S5720-52P-PWR-LI-AC asks and consumes approx 5

thanks, could you please clarify the other part of my question?
could you please also clarify the other part of my question?

What is the reason of such difference in power inline consumption?
If switches and AP work with the same protocol, should not consumption be similar?
Thank you four your time and effort.
