Hello there Community members!
Today I would like to talk about one of the most important tool in troubleshooting (Ping), And how to ping on LMT and MTS.
What is ping?
ping is a tool that enables us to check if the IP address of a particular destination exists, and we can be used to quickly check if a remote device is reachable or not.
How does ping work?
Ping works by sending an Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) echo request to a specific interface on the network and waiting for a response. When a ping command is issued, a ping signal is sent to a specific address. When the target host receives an echo request, it responds by sending an echo reply packet.
Reply Message
bytes=32 : means size of data that send to remote device, The size of data that the ping is to send 32 bytes of data to the destination remote in ICMP echo request packets. If 32 bytes of data are received on a remote decice in an ICMP Echo Request message, it will reply back with an ICMP Echo Reply containing 32 bytes of data.
Time=111ms : It means the time that the package took to go and come back
TTL=49 : The Time To Live of an IP packet is the maximum number of IP routers that a packet can pass through before it is discarded.

B- How to make a ping from LMT.
1- use LST IPRT command to get Next hop ip and destination ip.

The image below shows the result of LST IPRT destination, next hop, service, OM, IPCLK, IPCLK_Backup

2- Use the PING command, then type slot No, source ip and destination ip, You can perform continuous ping by enabling it

3- If the ping is successful, you will get 0 percent packet loss.

Best Regards,
