Hi,

I get a problem with this, that smartphone usually use 2.4 GHz which is congested. While I use band-steering but still cannot get the 5GHz connection with the AP established.

Please help guide me to make sure most of STA get 5 GHz that may reduce interference.

Hi @user_3534491,
There might be some reasons, kindly refer to the steps below:
1. Make sure the AP does broadcast the 5GHz channel already. You can use other wireless devices to test the 5GHz connection.
2. Make sure the cellphones are in the coverage range of the 5GHz signal.
3. Make sure the cellphones do support 5GHz wifi channel, and the supported channel of the cellphones and enabled channel of the wireless device are overlapped.

Hello user hope below can help:

1. Turn off and turn on the Wifi of the device you are trying to connect
2. Restart the device
3. Restart the modem/router
4. Log in as the administrator of the router and make sure you have the right WiFi password
- If it is your network you can even try changing it temporarily to a more simple password, one you just “couldn’t possibly mess up” and testing to ensure that that isnt the cause.
5. If some devices can connect, but others cant then depending on the age of the device you are using it could be a capability issue. In the network world 5GHz Wifi is known as (802.11ac). This was developed in 2008 but was not widely adopted in phones/laptops/wireless dongles until 2013 (-ish). You may be using a device who’s WiFi card cannot pickup and read those 5G signals. (As a professional, if I were to guess, this is your issue.)
