RTU connection routes to the central station
The LAN interface connects the RTU to the central station with the help of other peripherals such as ADSL modem, fiber optic, WiMAX modem, wireless WiFi, dish antenna and satellite antenna.
There is usually no comprehensive software for synchronizing RTU with the central station, but due to the different uses of the RTU module in different industries, it has led programmers to design and implement specialized software in this area.
What is the RTU hardware diagram like?
RTU Hardware Diagram:
RTU consists of several processors (CPUs) and are displayed as AI, DI, DO distribution systems.
The AI unit independently receives and processes up to 96 analog inputs.
The DI unit also receives processes and sends up to 192 key status signals and other status information separately, such as alerts.
The DO unit can also perform 64 output control operations.
Each of these units stores and receives information in an instant.
Contacts are another part of RTU hardware that can be divided into two types, dry and wet.
Dry type contacts: These contacts are connected directly to the RTU and are voltage free.
Wet type contacts:These contacts are connected to the RTU terminal cards via the power supply and have voltage.
The difference between RTU and PLC
In order to be able to examine the differences between RTU and PLC, we must first have a brief definition of PLC. Therefore, we also introduce SCADA, which is a kind of process control system structure.
SCADA systems make it possible to interact with industrial processing equipment and sites with other devices, such as programmable logic controllers, or PLCs.
SCADA is very important in industry and is used to control, monitor and process information. Computers used to analyze inputs must use SCADA software.
SCADA softwares are flexible, reliable and scalable in complex automation systems and have numerous applications from energy production to agricultural systems.
The collected SCADA data is stored in an information logging system, which is usually a database management system.
Programmers use this data to create charts and other analysis methods.
Thank you.
