Dear friend!
The discarding of data packets in a network when a device is overloaded and cannot accept any incoming data at a given moment.
Packet loss may be caused by an exception on the customer's equipment (including hardware and software exceptions), or by a deterioration of the communication link quality.
The communication quality of the link deteriorates:
1. The attenuation of the optical cable is too high.
2. The hardware of the communication network equipment is faulty or aged.
3. The temperature and humidity of the device exceed the specified thresholds.
3. The parameters of the UNI and NNI ports are incorrectly configured.
4. Other causes, such as squeezed communications equipment and lines, loose interfaces, poor grounding of equipment, etc.
On the NMS, you can perform various tests on the Ethernet to check whether packet loss occurs:
How to test the availability of Ethernet services
Thanks!
