What problem did OTN solve that MSTP could not solve ? Why is OTN preferred over MSTP ? What is so different ?


Explain in simple terms.

OTN equipment mainly solves the problem of long-distance and large-bandwidth service transmission. The reason why OTN is superior to MSTP is that OTN solves problems that cannot be solved by MSTP.

1. MSTP cannot solve the problem of long-distance transmission with a single span of more than 150 km. Even if various relay amplification technologies are used to achieve transmission with a distance of 150 km, the cost is high.
2. MSTP cannot provide access of customer services at a rate higher than 10 Gbit/s. However, with the development of communication services, more and more services at a rate higher than 10 Gbit/s are available.
