Hi,

As the following figure show. AR1 and AR3 import/network 10.1.1.0/24 into OSPF in different ways. Will AR2 prefer the route of AR1 or AR3?

And if the OSPF ASE preference is changed to 8 on AR2, how does AR2 select the route?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

1. Type 5 LSAs are generated when routes are imported to OSPF, and Type 1 or 2 LSAs are generated when routes are advertised by using the network command. AR2 receives Type 5 LSA and Type 1/2 LSA from the same OSPF process. Therefore, AR2 preferentially selects Type 1/2 LSA in the routing domain to generate routing entries. That is, AR2 selects the route to AR3.

2. Routes learned by the same process are not compared based on their preferences. The route selection rule is intra-area> inter-area > outside the routing domain. (Calculate and select routes based on the restored topology.) Therefore, after the preference of OSPF ASE is changed to 8, AR2 still selects the route to AR3.
