Ospf-NBMA Basic Configuration

In an OSPF network, five types of networks are defined. NBMA refers to all the non-broadcast multipoint-to-multipoint networks. The DR and BDR need to be established on such networks for communication, send protocol packets in unicast mode and manually configure neighbors to implement communication. Now, let's look at the OSPF configuration on the NBMA network.

Configure the routers as follows:

R1:

Sysname R1
#
Undo info-center enable
#
Interface Serial0/0/0
Link-protocol fr
Undo fr inarp
Fr dlci 102 # Establish a local DLCI identifier.
Fr dlci 103
Fr dlci 104
Fr map ip 123.1.1.2 102 broadcast # Set up the mapping relationship with the peer end.
Fr map ip 123.1.1.3 103 broadcast
Fr map ip 123.1.1.4 104 broadcast
Ip address 123.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
Ospf dr-priority 20
#
Interface LoopBack0
Ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
#
Ospf 1
Peer 123.1.1.2 # Manually establish a neighbor relationship.
Peer 123.1.1.3
Peer 123.1.1.4
Area 0.0.0.0
Network 123.1.1.1 0.0.0.0
Area 0.0.0.1
Network 192.168.1.1 0.0.0.0
Quit
#

R2:

Sysname R2
#
Undo info-center enable
#
Interface Serial0/0/0
Link-protocol fr
Undo fr inarp
Fr dlci 201
Fr map ip 123.1.1.1 201 broadcast
Fr map ip 123.1.1.3 201 broadcast
Fr map ip 123.1.1.4 201 broadcast
Ip address 123.1.1.2 255.255.255.0
Ospf dr-priority 0 # changes the priority to 0 and does not allow the router to participate in DR election.
Quit
#
Interface LoopBack0
Ip address 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.0
Quit

The basic configurations are similar. The configurations of R3 and R4 are similar to those of R2. You only need to pay attention to the mapping between dlci and neighbors.

NBMA is one of the type of the OSPF, the other network type is the P2P, P2PMP, brodcast, currently we suggest use the P2P and brodcast.
