Hi folks,

OSPF Cost = Reference BW / Interface BW in bps

In the give example:
Ref BW= 1000Mbps = 1000,000,000 bps
OSPF cost of GE interface between R3 and R2 = 1000,000,000 / 1000,000,000 = 0.1 which is calculated as 1

Ethernet speed is 10Mbps(10,000,000 bps) between R1 and R2 { Cost= 1000,000,000/10,000,000 = 100}

Total cost of route learned by R3 = 1 + 100 = 101

but there is no option of 101, can anyone confirm my calculations please?

OSPF cost

Hello!

The answer is 11.

Explanation

Ref BW= 1000Mbps

OSPF cost of GE interface between R3 and R2 = 1000 Mbps so cost is = 1000/1000 = 1.

The Ethernet speed is 100 Mbps between R1 and R2 , Cost = 1000/100 = 10.

The total cost of the route learned by R3 = 1 + 10 = 11.

brother,
Ethernet is 100mbps normally (you can change to 10mbps)
while GigaEth is 1000 mbps

No FastEth convention here
Hope it clarifies your query :)

PS: Also information in question & in options help to get answer :0

Hi hemin88,
By default, the rate of an Ethernet interface is 100 Mbit/s. Therefore, the cost between R1 and R2 is 10.
The answer to this question is B(11).
