In a OSPF broadcast network, what is the multicast address that is used by the Designated Router (DR) and Backup Designated Router (BDR) for listening for link state update information?
Hi friend! OSPF uses two IP multicast addresses on broadcast and point-to-point networks: 225.0. 0.5 for all OSPF routers and 224.0. 0.6 for all DR/BDR (designated router/backup designated router) routers. Using IP multicast addresses is more efficient than using broadcast addresses. Hope to help you!

To send routing information to a DR or BDR, the multicast address of 224.0.0.6 is used. A DR sends routing updates to the multicast address of 224.0.0.5. If the DR fails, the BDR will take its role of redistributing routing information.
