Hello everyone..
We talked yesterday about OSN 9800, This post about functions of OSN 9800 shelf...
- We have multiple subrack which are: U series , M24 , UPS .
- We have 3 types of it: U16, U32, U64, Depends on the number of service boards can inserted.
- The U series is OTN shelf which can contain:
Tributary boards.
Line boards.
Universal line boards.
General service processing boards.
Packet service processing boards.
Turbo WDM boards.
Submarine boards.
TDM boards.
Cross connection and communication boards.
Clock boards.
- Starting from the tributary boards.
- Used to receive the optical colorless signal from client side.
- Then convert it to electrical signal via SFP.
- Then add OPU k overhead which define the type of client data frame and size and multiplexing size.
- Then send the Data throuh the backplane to the cross connection boards ( electrical cross connection ).
- Then sent to the line board which will add the ODU k overhead.
- Then the OTU k overhead ( alignment Data , source and Destination IDs , error detection and correction , tandem connection monitoring ,.. ).
- Then convert the signal to optical ( colored C band ).
- This process done by OTU = optical transponder unit.
- But the advantage here in OTN shelf is the switching stage is seperate and tributary can be replaced or upgraded individually and line too.
Types of tributary boards is :
T130
T120
T216
T220
T302
T401
T402
T404
It depends on number of client ports and speed of each port.
*For example T404 has 4 Tx/Rx ports in client side and each port can process OTU4 which is 100 Gbps
So the T , means tributary.
And first digit is client side ports / number of clients.
And the last digit is frame type / speed.
