Hello,

Today, I will introduce you the difference between time slot mode and standard mode.

Does the OptiX WDM device support two modes: standard mode and time slot mode?

When the standard mode is used, the client-side services are directly mapped to the ODUk signals to achieve flexible scheduling of services.

When the time slot mode is used, multiple services with a rate lower than 2.5 Gbit/s can be aggregated into one ODU1 signal, so that multiple services can share the bandwidth of ODU1.

The OptiX OSN 8800 supports two modes for mapping client-side services to ODUk signals: standard mode and time slot mode.

When the standard mode is used, the client-side services are directly mapped to the ODUk signals to achieve flexible scheduling of services.

When the time slot mode is used, it supports the aggregation of multiple services with a rate lower than 1.25 Gbit/s to one ODU0, and also supports the aggregation of multiple services with a rate lower than 2.5 Gbit/s to one ODU1, so that multiple services share ODU0 or the bandwidth of ODU1.

OptiX OSN 8800 supports non-slotted mapping of client-side services, that is, direct mapping of client-side services to ODUk signals using standard mapping modes

Map client-side services in a time slots mode

The OptiX OSN 8800 divides an ODUk signal into several time slots, and the bandwidth of each time slot is 155 Mbit/s. Client-side services are sliced at 155 Mbit/s and mapped to ODUk signals. Multiple low-rate services can be aggregated into one ODUk signal to improve bandwidth utilization.

The OptiX OSN 8800 supports the services that are mapped to ODU0 in time slot mode: FE, FDDI, ESCON, SDI, DVB-ASI, FC100, and FICON. OptiX OSN 8800 supports the services that are mapped to ODU1 in time slot mode: FE, FDDI, STM-1, OC-3, ESCON, SDI, DVB-ASI, STM-4, OC-12, FC100, FICON, GE, HD -SDI, FC200 and FICON Express. The number of timeslots occupied by different client-side service types is different, and the number of time slots occupied by each service type is shown in Table 1.
