SSM is the abbreviation of Synchronous Status Message, is the standard protocol for clock protection. The SSM is transmitting from bit 4 to bit 8 of the four consecutive off frames of TS0 in 2048kbit/s, frame structure conforming to ITU-T recommendation G.704 is the external clock signal from timing equipment, BITS.
