Hi all,
Today I will share few important facts about the optical power management options in OSN 8800.
Please find the ALC importance , what means to work with and without ALC, plus the boards which support this function and the meaning of the ALC alarms. Hope that you find it useful. ;)
The system provides the automatic level control (ALC) function. When the ALC function is enabled, the increase in the line attenuation in a section causes a decrease in the input power of the amplifier in that section, and the output power of the amplifier remains the same. The input and output power of the downstream amplifiers remains the same.
System without ALC, in a chain network the line loss increases and the output power of the end node decreases, the OSNR performance is high.
System with ALC
In a chain network, the system automatically adjusts the power of link and maintains the output power of nodes within the normal range. In this way, the output power of end node stays within the permitted range and the effect on the OSNR performance of the system is minimized.
