I will continue to give us a description of the different types of optical connectors. In a previous article, I described the SMA, LX-5, MU and MT optical connectors. This is the last article about this theme. Today I will describe the following connectors: bionic optical connectors, plastic fiber optic cable connectors, ESCON, FDDI, opti-jack and volition connector.
1. Bionic Connector
In the next picture, we can see Bionic connector. It was one of the optical connectors. It is not used today.

2. Plastic Fiber Optic Cable Connectors
Plastic fiber optic cable connectors are cheaper and these optical connectors are used for easy application. The next picture shows us these optical connectors.

3. ESCON optical connectors
These are special optical connectors, ESCON optical connectors are half-duplex. ESCON is an abbreviation from Enterprise Systems Connection. These optical connectors were developed by IBM. Next picture shows this type of optical connector.

4. FDDI optical connectors
These optical connectors are used in LAN networks within a 200 km range. FDDI is an abbreviation from Fiber Distributed Data Interface. The FDDI optical connectors have a 2.5mm ferrule. We can see this optical connector in the next picture.

5. Opti-Jack optical connectors
These optical connectors are similar to the RJ45, we can see them in the picture below. This is the duplex optical connector and it is plug-and-jack optical connector.

6. Volition optical connectors
These optical connectors are plug-and-jack duplex connectors. The next picture shows us this optical connector.
