Hello, everyone!
I will continue to give us a description of the different types of optical connectors. In a previous article, I described the E2000, FC and MT-RJ optical connectors. Today I will describe the following connectors: SMA, LX-5, MU and MT.
1. SMA Connectors
This is not a popular optical connector. SMA optical connectors are like ST or FC optical connectors. Sometimes, these optical connectors are used to replace ST or SC optical connectors. The next picture shows us this optical connector.

2. LX-5 Connectors
These optical connectors are new optical connectors, which allow for high density and high performance. LX-5 has a 1.25mm ferrule. The optical connectors LX-5 are used in many telecommunication networks. In the next picture, we can see this type of optical connector.

3. MU Connector
MU optical connectors are a new generation of connectors. They are used in applications where there are high densities. These optical connectors use a push-pull connection mechanism. We can see this MU connector in the next picture.
There are three different versions of optical connectors:
SM MU/APC,
SM MU/UPC, and
MM MU/UPC.
These optical connectors are mainly used for LAN, WDM, ATM, SONET, SDH, etc.

4. MT Connector
Ribbon optical cables have many optical fibers, for these optical cables, we use the MT connectors. This optical connector has 12 optical fibers. The next picture shows us this optical connector.

I will continue in the next article.
Thank you!
