Hello,
Today, I would like to share with you this topic which describes how to solve the issue when the optical power is too large, and the customers connected to the ONU cannot access the Internet normally.
Network topology:
Business networking: PC->ONU ->OLT ->internet
Fault phenomenon description:
A total of 4 ONUs are installed under the PON end of an office building in the software park. After the new device goes online, the PC under the ONU cannot access the Internet normally, nor can it ping the ONU from the OLT.
Troubleshooting steps:
1. Because more than one ONU has this problem, all ONUs under the PON end have this problem intermittently. Troubleshoot a single ONU device.
2. After replacing a new beam splitter, the fault remains. Troubleshoot the splitter.
3. After the ONU is replaced by the PON of another board of the OLT, the fault remains. Eliminate the fault of OLT PON terminal.
4. Check the optical path and find that the distance between each ONU and this OLT is about 2km, and the test light reception at the PON end of the splitter is about 2dB, and the light reception at each ONU end is about -6dB. After searching the information, it is found that the ONU PON light collection range is between -8dB~-24dB. Since the PON received by these ONUs exceeds -8dB, it is suspected that the optical signal is too strong.
5. After adding a 5dB optical attenuation to the main PON of the OLT, test the ONU's light reception at about -12dB. Observed for nearly a week, the users of this PON terminal can access the Internet normally, and the problem is solved.
Problem summary:
Use the method of segmentation to eliminate the possible faults one by one, and finally locate the fault point.
