ONT Internal Logical Architecture (HG850)

The above figure shows the inner architecture of the HG850
 
HG850 includes three important parts : gmac, LSW and IAD module.
- The HG850 can provide four FE ports for the broadband service and multicast service The four FE ports are numbered from 0 to 3.
- The HG850 uses the built-in IAD module to provide two POTS ports, that is, the VOIP interface to support the VOIP service.
In the case of the voice service, the HG850 functions as an IAD module. In general, the devices support either the SIP protocol or the MGCP protocol . We can install the different software to support the different protocol. So that, before you configure the VOIP service, pls check the ONT version.
