OLT Temperature

Hi there.

I'm using an EA5801 OLT. When I run the display temperature command, it's showing the board temperature to be 67 degrees Celcius(152 Fahrenheit).

I'm only using a single pon port with 50 connections.

Is it an overheating issue of the OLT? Should I get it checked by the Huawei team?

Thanks.

Hello,

Please proceed as below

Procedure

  1. Check whether the current ambient temperature of the board where the alarm is generated is too high according to the current temperature parameter among alarm parameters.

    note_3.0-en-us.png

Different boards have different heat-resistant capabilities and the same board has different heat-resistant capabilities in the case of different backplanes. Generally, keep temperature of all boards lower than 80°C.

  • If the current ambient temperature of the board is too high, go to 3.

  • If the current ambient temperature of the board is proper, proceed to 2.

Run the display temperature threshold command to query the settings of the global temperature thresholds of the entire system.

note_3.0-en-us.png

  • Because different boards have different heat-resistant capabilities, it is not recommended that you set global temperature thresholds by running the temperature threshold command.

  • If the global temperature thresholds of the entire system are set, all boards adopt the thresholds as their temperature thresholds. If no such temperature thresholds are set, the boards adopt their individual thresholds.

  • Setting the temperature threshold of the entire system is supported, but setting the temperature threshold of an individual board is not supported.

  • By default, the high-temperature threshold of the entire system is 95°C.

  • If the global temperature thresholds of the entire system are not set or are set to proper values, proceed to 3

  • If the settings of the global temperature thresholds are inappropriate, run the undo temperature threshold command to cancel the settings. Then, go to 5.

Run the display alarm history alarmid 0x1541a024 command to query whether the 0x1541a024 The fan is blocked and therefore stops rotation alarm is generated.

Check whether the ambient temperature of the device is too high.

note_3.0-en-us.png

Ensure the following ambient temperature for the device so that the device can run stably:

  • Long-term ambient temperature: -5°C-+45°C

  • Short-term ambient temperature: -25°C-+55°C

  • If the ambient temperature of the device is too high, adjust it, for example, set the temperature value of the air conditioner in the device environment to be lower, so as to enable the ambient temperature to be 20°C lower than the high-temperature threshold of the board. Then, go to 5.

  • If the ambient temperature of the device is proper, go to 7.

Wait for five minutes and check whether the system generates the corresponding recovery alarm.

  • If the corresponding recovery alarm is generated, go to 8.

  • If the corresponding recovery alarm is not generated, proceed to 6.

Replace the board and check whether the system still generates the alarm.

  • If this alarm is generated, go to 7.

  • If this alarm is cleared, go to 8.

Contact Huawei for technical support.

End.

Hi,

Please check and confirm the standard temperature of the specific board you are using as each board has different temperature limit.

Can you please tell me how to check that?

Here is a temperature guide for EA5801:

-40°C to +65°C* (normal operation), Minimum startup temperature: -25°C
*+65°C indicates the temperature of the air intake vent of the service subrack
