The OLT is currently operational and has many customer ONTs connected to it. Service is perfectly normal, but the CLI operation is really rubbish and slow.

For instance, the command save configuration is not executed.

save configuration

Then we get this error message:

Failure

The CLI shows this message but is does not actually save. When we see the saved-configuration, the configuration is different from the current-configuration. So configuration is not being saved.

When data is saved, the operation is successful:

save data

The OLT is taking long to respond to the command display current-configuration as well, sometimes it does not show the whole configuration.

What can be done to solve the save problem and the system slowness problem? Could the OLT be in some sort of loopback?

Hello, friend!

After the MA5800 control board has been running for a long time (> 300 days), the OS occupies too much low-end memory. When the remaining low-end memory is about 9 MB and does not have the required continuous memory space (all in memory fragments), the display current-configuration command execution takes a long time or exits due to timeout. The fault can be rectified after an active/standby switchover.

Measures and Solutions

Recovery measure:

Two control boards: Perform active/standby switchover twice.

One control board: Reset the system.

Solution:

Upgrade the software to the following patch:

R019C12SPC221

Thanks!

Hello, Mr Chenxintao!

Thank you for the instant answer on the matter! This solution looks promissing!

But currently, the customer is not even able to save the configuration file, due to this error message:

Failure: System is busy, please retry after a while

Wouldn't a system reboot be a risky operation since the customer is not able to save the cfg file?

Thank you!

Hello, my dear!

Previously, other users on the forum had the same problem, which was solved by the above solution.

Services are affected when the system restarts.

Thanks!
