Dears,

Customer has a IBM DS400 and would like to virtualize on Dorado V6.

Can I use HyperVault or HyperCopy through SmartVirtualization.

Thank you!

Sorry, I didn't quite get your question. You want to shift your LUNs from IBM to Dorado? or you want to use Dorado to manage the resources centrally?
If that's the case, you don't need HyperVault or HyperCopy. You'll be using the feature SmartMigration for SmartVirtualization.
HyperVault and HyperCopy are different features from SmartMigration.
You basically need to create the eDevLun, then external Lun will be synced with eDevLun and data will be transferred. After that Dorado will take over the services.
Complete procedure is mentioned in the documentation that @ernesto_cupet6 provided.

While for HyperCopy and HyperVault, Please refer below
HyperVault:
HyperVault is a file system–based data backup and recovery technology. HyperVault uses snapshot and remote replication technologies to back up data from the source to the backup storage system quickly based on the specified backup policy. When local data becomes invalid, HyperVault selects a local snapshot to roll back data in time or specifies a backup snapshot to perform full recovery.

HyperCopy:
HyperCopy allows you to obtain full copies of LUNs without interrupting host services. These copies can be used for purposes such as data backup, restoration, reproduction, and analysis.

So after the eDevLun is created and mapped on Dorado, you want to use that for HyperSnap and HyperCopy etc. Yeah that shouldn't be a problem.

Hello

You can refer to the SmartVirtualization User Guide at the OceanStor Dorado V6 Infocenter
https://support-it.huawei.com/docs/en-us/dorado-v6/smartvirtualization-userguide/third_desc.html

To ensure the correct implementation of SmartVirtualization, observe the configuration restrictions while configuring the local and heterogeneous storage systems.

https://support-it.huawei.com/docs/en-us/dorado-v6/smartvirtualization-userguide/third_limit.html

Hope it can help

Best Regards

Thanks ernesto_cupet6!

Excellent documentation, but does not mention the possibility of using HyperVault or HyperCDP feature between a Local LUN and an eDevLUNs for example.

Best regards,
