Hello,

Is the Huawei Oceanstor 5300 v3 compatible with HP SAN SN3000B?

I want to connect
SmartIO10ETH module with Huawei 10G MM SFP+ for Huawei OceanStor 5300 v3
to
16GB SW B-series SFP+  for HP SAN SN3000B

I'm not sure if these are compatible as I heard 10G cannot connect to 16G, please advice.

Hello,

Yes, it's compatible if it's under FC platform. We still suggest you to check compatible of Switch Firmware Version and Host Bus Adapter.

Here you can check the compatible list :- http://support-open.huawei.com/ready/pages/user/compatibility/support-matrix.jsf

Just input the storage model and Switch Model and click search and it will show you the compatible result.

10G ports is for Ethernet connections only and work with etherner protocols like TCP/IP but 16G ports is for SAN connections and work with different protocols like FC protocol, so different protocol different speed different SFP type, this cannot work like this

Hello all, thanks for the replies.

From what I understand, SmartIO10ETH module can be used to connect FC connections too. So if I were to
change the SFP to a 16G on the SmartIO10ETH module, will it work with the SN3000B?

Hello, we have decided to use iSCSI instead of FC.

So it should be solved I guess.
