We mounted the storage on our VMware ESXI host using the NFS protocol. If we try to take a snapshot of the VM while the data store is on the Huawei storage, it fails yet gives a permission error. However, when the VM’s data store is on the host's Local HDD, the snapshot works perfectly fine.
1. Check the NFS share folder permission setting on OceanStor 9000; we found that this folder only includes the W/R/E permission.
2. Check the user permission; we found that the user permission was also not limited.
3. Check if there is a domain user limited in the domain server; we found this is a local user, no domain limited.
4. All permission settings were fine; however when we checked the OceanStor 9000 compatibility list settings, we found that the storage was not supporting the ESXI host. Checked with the compatibility team and the feedback was that there would be a W/R problem with the ESXI host.
5. We did not suggest the customer to use the ESXI host for OceanStor 9000.
