Changes
Previously, an HCIE certification consists of a written exam, lab exam, and an interview. The new HCIE certifications will no longer contain an interview section and will focus on the written and lab exams.

The upgrade will start on May 30, 2021, and interviews will no longer be held December 31, 2021, with a 7-month transition period.

Q: What implications will the upgrade have on the Huawei HCIE certification?
A: After the upgrade, the assessment will focus more on engineers' capabilities, including but not limited to comprehensive assessment of scenario-based and modular capabilities, such as planning and design, engineering practices, fault diagnosis, induction and analysis, understanding, and application.
Q: How will the upgrade change the HCIE written and lab exams?
A: The new HCIE written and lab exams will focus more on the comprehensive technical capabilities of candidates, such as engineering practices, planning and design, as well as troubleshooting.
Q：When will the new HCIE outline and new exam questions release?
A：It will be released on May 30, 2021.
Q: How do I buy new lab exam vouchers?
A: On May 30, 2021, the previous lab exam & interview vouchers as well as interview make-up exam vouchers will no longer be valid, and new lab exam vouchers will available for purchase.
Q: Will the price of the new lab exam vouchers change?
A: No. The price of the new lab exam vouchers will be the same as the previous lab exam & interview vouchers.
Q: Can the purchased interview exam voucher be used to reserve the new HCIE lab exam?
A: Interview exam vouchers purchased after April 30, 2021 (including April 30) can only be used for the old version of the interview. Interview vouchers purchased before April 30, 2021 and have passed the lab exam can be used to reserve an old interview or a new lab exam.
Q: I passed the HCIE written exam before the upgrade. Can I take the new lab exam directly?
A: Yes. Candidates can directly take the new lab exam while their written exam result is valid. After passing the lab exam, you will obtain the HCIE certificate and do not need to attend the interview.
Q: I have passed the previous lab exam. If I want to take the new lab exam, when should I take it? If I want to complete the previous interview, when should I take it?
A: In order to let exam-takers who have passed the previous lab exams get fully prepared for the new lab exams, we allow that they can schedule and take the new lab exams within 270 days after passing the previous lab exams. If they want to continue the previous interviews, they should follow the validity periods required by the previous lab exams.
Q: The HCIE interview has been scheduled successfully. Can I cancel the interview and take the new lab exam?
A: For interview exams scheduled after April 30, 2021 (including April 30), exam vouchers cannot be used to reserve new lab exams. For interviews scheduled before April 30, 2021, you can cancel the interview appointment and reschedule the new lab exam.
Q: Can I cancel the HCIE lab and take the new HCIE lab exam?
A: For HCIE lab exams scheduled after April 30, 2021 (including April 30), exam vouchers cannot be used to reserve new lab exams. For lab exams scheduled before April 30, 2021, you can cancel the lab appointment and reschedule the new lab exam. (If you cannot cancel the service, send an email to Certification@huawei.com.)
Q: How to deal with purchased lab and interview exam vouchers?
A: The lab and interview vouchers are not used and are within the validity period: You can directly take the new lab exam after the date of revision or complete the subsequent lab exam and interview exam of the old version within the transition period according to the original rules.
Lab and interview exam vouchers used: Candidates who have passed the old lab exam but have not participated in the interview may continue to complete the old interview exam during the transition period or take the new lab exam for free after the date of the revision. After passing the exam, no interview is required.
Q: What should I do with the lab exam vouchers I have bought?
A: If you have used your lab exam voucher: You can directly take the new lab exam after May 30, 2021 or complete the lab exam and interview during the transition period according to the previous rules.
If you have not yet used your lab exam voucher: You can either attend the interview during the transition period or take the new lab exam after May 30, 2021. If you choose the latter option, you do not need to attend the interview, you can choose the new lab exam for free in the transition period.
If you cannot schedule exams by yourself, please send your information (your email address, exam voucher number, technical field of your new lab exam, as well as exam time and place) to us via email (certification@huawei.com).
Q: What should I do if I failed the previous interview?
A: You can directly purchase a new lab exam voucher and take the new lab exam while the result of the written exam is valid to obtain the HCIE certificate.
Q: How will the re-certification policy change?
