Hello,

I have Huawei EchoLIfe HG8245W5 router/modem and I want to use a USB flash drive with it for FTP file sharing. I followed several tutorials online (https://forum.huawei.com/enterprise/en/how-to-use-the-usb-function-of-a-huawei-ont-q-a/thread/464849-100181) but the problem I ran into is that they go in configuration webpage (192.168.100.1) then in advanced > security > access control and there they say to do this:

“Choose Security > ONT Access Control Configuration and select Enable the LAN-Side PC to Access the ONT Through FTP and Enable the WAN-Side PC to Access the ONT Through FTP. Click Apply.

However, I do not have these options there. Here is the screenshot of the webpage I get there instead of these options: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1B3CLipDVmQptU-8vm2qDeKGt4pwTtSKL

Thanks.

Dear Saad20114!
I see your link, your model is EchoLIfe HG8245W5, but that post is not for your model.

I've found you a configuration guide for your equipment.

1. Click Advanced Configuration > Application tab, and choose USB Application in the navigation tree on the left. In the pane on the right, set the parameters related to FTP downloading to share the FTP file of the ONT.

1

NOTE:

FTP server configuration supports only English.

The file time of an ONT is in the UNIX format. In Windows OS, the file time displayed may be different from the actual time for FTP access.

Table 1 Parameters related to the USB

Parameter

FTP Client Configuration

FTP URL

Indicates the path of the file downloaded through FTP.

Port ID

Indicates the FTP port number. It is set to 21 by   default. Generally, the setting is not required.

Oh okay. I'm not able to find any tutorial on the model I have. Issue that I’m having with the model I have is that when I click on download in “usb application” (advanced settings > application > usb application) it gives error saying “invalid ftp url”. Also, in access control (advanced > security > device access control) I don’t have these options to enable the LAN-Side PC to Access the ONT Through FTP and Enable the WAN-Side PC to Access the ONT Through FTP.

Sorry I didn't get you. Should I login with User name: telecomadmin Password: admintelecom ? I tried this but it doesn't login. I can only login with my username and password. If you know how to setup usb flash drive on this modem, can you help me using teamviewer?

I think the main issue is that I'm getting "invalid ftp url" when I click on download in "usb application" (advanced settings > application > usb application).

Hello,

Please proceed as follwing

1. In most cases, the default user name for logging in to the web page is root, the password is admin and the IP address is 192.168.100.1. However, for security reasons, the default password or IP address may have been changed before delivery. The nameplate prevails. Enter the IP address in the address bar of your browser.

2. Enter the default login account and password on the nameplate on the rear of the ONT and click Login.

3. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Network Applications > USB Application. In the pane on the right, set the parameters related to the FTP downloading to share the FTP file of the ONT.

1/2) Just follow the normal steps as showed in above replies. However, this time before plugging in the USB flash drive in the router, first connect USB flash drive to pc and copy this file over to it. Then connect it to the router and follow same steps > going in advanced configuration > Application tab and choose USB application and there follow neccesary steps. Finally on Home page of your router settings (192.168.100.1) click on USB on the model picture.

2/2) After enabling sharing authentication, create new account settings on same page. Then in Windows search for (by pressing Windows key) "Turn Windows features on or off" them open it, scroll down and check box of "SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support", click OK. Link for the file I was talking about earlier, which you have to copy over to the USB flash drive: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1mOs042uHspkakXC3MMHkV0rjGfK04J4n

3) I forgot, by copying over that file to USB flash drive, you can skip the downloading ftp client configuration file to USB flash drive step which you were unable to do. So, basically all you got to do is Click Advanced Configuration > Application tab, and choose USB Application then provide all info there accordingly but don’t worry if clicking on download button does nothing, you have already copied over that file to pc.
Saad20114
Saad20114 Created May 18, 2020 18:43:21 (0) (0)
4) Then follow steps I previously told in end of 1/2 & 2/2. Restart PC in the end. Go in network and wait for sometime you should get “WAP” which has USB network location, provide username and password you had set up previously in ftp configuration and that’s it. You can also access this using ES File Explorer in android.

In last sentence I meant, you have already copied over that file to USB* (not pc)

It's basically that configuration file that we have to download on USB application page on router settings (192.168.100.1) but as that doesn't work, so I have directly given you the file to copy over to usb. Just copy & open Google drive link I sent in earlier reply, download file & copy it over to usb. Follow rest of the steps as told previously.

Got it. Great!! It works. However, this works as WAP and not as FTP. correct me if I am wrong

Yes, you are correct. I suggest using ES file explorer on android phone to access it as well, go in network in ES file explorer and search, you will get WAP there also. And on Windows PC you can map the usb flash drive. Link for ES file explorer PRO: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nP2HrXZdT25Xj-KvifsNftU4Y4-8Yq2X/view?usp=drivesdk
