What is NoF Director intelligent plug-in?
The NoF Director intelligent plug-in implements automatic discovery of storage devices and automatic and fast switchover upon link faults.
Huawei develops the network management enhancement plug-in OceanStor NOF Director to work with Huawei network switches to implement automatic and fast link establishment, fast identification of link faults, and automatic switchover. After the SNSD plug-in is installed on servers, switches, and storage devices, NVMe-oF service information is registered to implement automatic broadcast of service changes. Servers receive broadcast notifications of service status changes to implement access control on NVMe-oF targets.
Capabilities
The current version supports the following functions:
1. Automatic discovery of storage devices.
The host enhanced driver automatically discovers storage devices on the network and sets up connections.
2. I/O paths are automatically switched over when a link fault occurs.
The host enhanced driver automatically disconnects the storage device based on the received port change information and switches services to the standby link. See the following figure.
