Hello everyone!
Today, I’d like to share a case.
Problem description
After the command for resetting an ONT is executed on the OLT (MA5680T), no related alarm is generated, and only the "Reset the ONT(s) successfully" message is displayed.
MA5680T(config-if-epon-0/2)#ont reset
{ portid<U><0,3> }: 0
{ ontid<U><0,63>|all<K> }:0
Command:
ont reset 0 0
Resetting the ONT(s) will interrupt all services on the ONT(s)
Are you sure to reset the ONT(s)? (y/n)[n]: y
MA5680T(config-if-epon-0/2)#
Reset the ONT(s) successfully
Handling process
Possible causes:
1. No alarm is generated after the ONT is reset by running related commands.
2. Alarm filtering exists.
Troubleshooting procedure
1. Log in to another MA5680T for verification. It is found that the related alarm is generated.
2. Query historical alarms on the faulty MA5680T.Historical alarm are found but alarms about the ONU's going online/offline do not exist, which is abnormal. According to careful observations on the device, the following configurations are displayed:
MA5680T(config)#display alarm filter alarmtype
{ <cr>|communication<K>|service<K>|process<K>|equipment<K>|environment<K> }:
Command:
display alarm filter alarmtype
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alarm type switch
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COMMUNICATION disable
SERVICE QUALITY disable
PROCESS ERROR disable
EQUIPMEc
ENVIRONMENTAL disable
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The function of filtering equipment alarms is enabled. In this way, alarms are not reported to the NMS or the CLI terminals and no alarm records are available. After the function of filtering equipment alarms is disabled, the fault is rectified.
Root cause
The function of filtering equipment alarms are enabled on the OLT.
Solution
Disable the function of filtering equipment alarms on the OLT.
