HiCoins as reward: 5 (problem unresolved)

I have 2 NetEngine 8000 M1A router.

Can I configure the same IP in both router's interfaces (Mirrior configure)? where both routers will work in active/standby mode when router-1 will power down or uplink goes down router-2 will work as the active router.

My sample network is below. TIA.

Hello,
As far as I know, there is no such function that allows the administrator to synchronize configuration between two routers, as the USG firewall HSB does.
Instead, you can manually do that. Just copy the configuration manually from the 'master' router to the 'backup' router, and shutdown the 'backup' router's interface until the 'master' router fails.
Or you can enhance that plan by using the VRRP.

Take the figure below as an example, You can configure the two routers with the same configuration, except the interface IP address, and create a VRRP group for each interface, to simulate the HSB.

BTW, in this way, there would be a lot of interfaces wasting, because every connection to the router will be connected to the VRRP virtual IP, not the physical interface.

The solution is use virtual cluster!

Hi Friend,

how are you?

it is possible using the VRRP protocol. The Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) is a standard-defined fault-tolerant protocol that groups several physical routing devices into a virtual one. If a physical routing device (master) that serves as the next hop of hosts fails, the virtual device switches traffic to a different physical routing device (backup), thereby ensuring service continuity and reliability.

Example configuration:

aaa

Example Load Balance VRRP configuration:

https://support.huawei.com/hedex/hdx.do?docid=EDOC1100168845&id=EN-US_TASK_0172361793&lang=en

load balance

i hope it helpful!

Hi, is it possible without VRRP? I want that 2 devices will have the same configure including IP address when the Active router will down backup device will act as an active router.

Hi, is it possible with Virtual Cluster:

Thank you

You can use VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) , is a fault-tolerant protocol that groups several routers into a virtual router. If the next hop of a host fails, VRRP switches traffic to another router, which ensures communication continuity and reliability.

·         Reliable transmission:

·         Simplified configurations: Users only need to specify a gateway address without configuring routing protocols on their hosts.

·         Improved user experience: Users are not aware of a single point of failure.

Also you can use MLAG for further redundancy

Hi friend!

According to your description, the only way to use virtual clusters.

Is this feature available in my mentioned Router. I did not find any example in product documentation.
