Hi, heshamk
Setting Recording PolicyTo set up a server- or PU-based recording plan for a camera, you must set recording parameters for the camera.
Procedure- In the Service Operation panel on the left of Workspace tab page, double-click Videos. The Video tab page is displayed.
- Click the Recording Policy tab. In the Cameras panel on the tab page that is displayed, select a camera.
The page for setting recording parameters is displayed, as shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1 Setting recording parameters
- Set the recording parameters.
Table 1 lists the recording parameters.

Description
How to Set
[/tr]
Stream Type
| Stream for platform recording
| Indicates the stream type used by a scheduled recording task. The options are as follows:
- Primary stream: The primary streams of the camera are used. The primary streams feature high bit rate, definition, and bandwidth usage.
- Secondary stream 1: The secondary streams of the camera are used. The secondary streams feature low bit rate, definition, and bandwidth usage.
Set this parameter based on the bandwidth and network quality.
| N/A
|
PU recording
| Indicates the stream type used by the camera to record video.
| Click Settings and select a stream type.
|
Scheduled Videos
| Save mode
| Complete: Recordings can be stored completely within a specified period. (This period is called complete storage period.) When the complete storage period expires and the storage space is insufficient, recordings are completely deleted.NOTE:- Remaining recording space threshold = Maximum number of cameras that can be connected to the server x 1.5 x 1 GB.
- If you enable manual platform or alarm-triggered recording for a device with the video buffering function, the video buffered due to network outage will be stored and deleted in scheduled recording mode.
If the remaining storage space is less than the threshold value: - Recording policy: stopping recording upon full recording space
- If the complete storage period expires, the system will gradually delete the recordings that exceed the complete storage period until the remaining recording space is greater than or equal to the threshold value.
- If the complete storage period does not expire, the system stops recording.
- Recording policy: overwriting earliest recordings upon full recording space
- If the complete storage period expires, the system will gradually delete the recordings that exceed the complete storage period until the remaining recording space is greater than or equal to the threshold value.
NOTE:If the remaining recording space is still less than the threshold value after the system deletes recordings that exceed the complete storage period, the system will first delete recordings that have not been configured with a storage period and then earliest recordings within the complete storage period. - If the complete storage period does not expire, the system will first delete recordings that have not been configured with a storage period and then earliest recordings within the complete storage period.
| Set this parameter based on the site requirements. Default value: Complete
|
Complete frames (days)
| Indicates the period for storing recordings completely.
NOTICE:Set the recording storage duration based on the site requirements to prevent recording loss.
| Set this parameter based on the site requirements. Default value: 0 The value 0 indicates that the recording storage duration is not specified. By default, recordings may be overwritten after 24 hours.
|
Video Storage Period (days)
| Alarm-triggered videos
| Indicates the period for storing alarm-triggered recordings.
| Set this parameter based on the site requirements. Default value: 0 The value 0 indicates that the system stores video based on the maximum storage capacity until the storage space is full.
|
Manual videos
| Indicates the period for storing manual recordings.
| Set this parameter based on the site requirements. Default value: 0 The value 0 indicates that the system stores video based on the maximum storage capacity until the storage space is full.
|
Other
| Pre-recording
| Indicates the pre-recording mode. The options are as follows:
- NONE: The pre-recording function is disabled.
- PU pre-recording: A PU starts recording video several seconds before an alarm is triggered.
| The pre-recording video clip is used to locate and analyze the alarm.
|
Pre-recording duration (s)
| Indicates the period for the PU to record before an alarm is triggered.
| The pre-recording duration has a fixed value of 10s and this value cannot be changed. This parameter is available when Pre-recording is set to PU pre-recording
