Fault Symptom
The device and MA5200 run IS-IS to connect to each other. After the configurations are complete, the IS-IS peer relationships fail to establish between the device and MA5200. However, the IS-IS status on GE 1/0/0 of the device is normal and GE 1/0/0 can receive LSPs sent from the MA5200.
Fault Analysis
1. Run the display current-configuration command on the device to check the device configurations. The configurations are normal.
2. The optical power received on GE 1/0/0 of the device is close to the critical value, and CRC error packets occur on GE 1/0/0 of the MA5200 and the number of CRC error packets keeps increasing rapidly. After the optical connectors on both ends of the link are cleaned, the device receives the optical power at a normal speed, and no CRC error packets occur on GE 1/0/0 of the MA5200. However, the IS-IS peer relationships still cannot be established.
3. Run the display traffic policy statistics interface gigabitethernet 1/0/0 inbound command on the device. The command output shows that GE 1/0/0 of the device receives no IS-IS multicast packets from the peer, possibly caused by a faulty link on the switch or the faulty transmission device.
Procedure
1. Replace the transmission device. The IS-IS peer relationships can be established and the fault is rectified.
