Ne 8000 M8 not connecting to Extreme X870 via 100 GB short range

Hi,

As the title say, we can't link up our Ne 800 M8 with a extreme X870 in a 100 Gb short range module.

- We've tried to connect both sides in Huawei and the ports links  (so the gbics are being recognized by the router)

- We've tried to enable FEC.

- The X870 with other switches works fine.

None of this works, any help?

Hi,
Is there any error logs?
Is the 100G interface a 50|100G interface? If yes, have you switched the interface speed to 100G?
Is the optical module a Huawei certificated module? If not, please replace it with a certificated one.
Can you please check the interface status through command 'display interface'?

Hi!!!

It`s a 100G interface and it`s speed is configured to 100G.

I don`t know if it is certified but at the logs it appears to be installed ok and if a link two Huawei ports the link goes up, so the problem is the connection Extreme X Huawei.

How about disabling FEC on both ends?

Friend,

validate the FEC configuration between both devices as it is. The setup needs to be the same.

Use the command "display interface (Interface ID)" to validate the FEC mode on the NE8000.

If it is different from the adjacent equipment, you need to change it and leave it the same. The command to carry out this modification is as follows.

# Set the FEC mode of 100GE 0/1/1 to the standard G.709 mode.
<HUAWEI> system-view
[~HUAWEI] interface 100ge 0/1/1
[~HUAWEI-100GE0/1/1] fec-eth standard

or fec-eth disable / undo fec-eth

Usage Scenario

Different FEC modes have distinctive internal error correcting algorithms and are supported by varied vendors. If interconnected devices have different FEC modes configured, FEC errors may occur. To prevent FEC errors, interconnected devices must have the same FEC mode. If the remote device's interface uses the standard G.709 mode, run the fec-eth standard command to set the FEC mode of the local device's connected 100GE interface to the standard G.709 mode.

Precautions

Two connected 100GE interfaces must have the same FEC mode.

The fec-eth disable command forcibly disables Ethernet FEC. The undo fec-eth command enables or disables Ethernet FEC based on the optical module types. By·default,·standard·Ethernet·FEC·is·enabled·on·optical·modules (SR4·or·CWDM4·MSA)·such·as·the·34061089·(QSFP28·short-distance)·and·34061378·(QSFP28·short·distance)·optical·modules.For other optical modules, Ethernet FEC is disabled by default.

Hi,

I tried again but none works.
I`ve tried all possible fec modes :(

It`s possible that both FECs are incompatible?

Yes, it's possible. You try the FEC standard?

On Huawei you need set the none and on Extreme none too. On Huawei, is possible because i already configured this.
Good answer

Hiiii,

We could solve the problem.
On Extreme we didn`t need to set any configuration.
At Huawei we need to set "fec-eth disable".

Thx for your help!
