Hello, dear.

3GPP defines three spectrum deployment scenarios for NB-IoT: Standalone deployment, Guard band deployment, and In-band deployment.

Ø Standalone deployment Deploying NB-IoT using the free spectrum in the existing network or new spectrum resources.

Ø Guard band deployment Utilizing the guard band spectrum of the existing LTE network to maximize spectrum resource utilization.

Ø In-band deployment Use the existing RBs in the frequency band of the existing network LTE network to deploy NB-IoT.

When building an NB-IoT network, operators must choose at least one of these three modes to deploy the NB-IoT network. The application scenarios of different deployment modes are suggested as follows.

Ø There is spare spectrum or GSM900 spectrum and high coverage requirement, Standalone deployment mode is recommended

Ø In-band deployment is recommended when LTE spectrum is available and there is a demand for evolutionary expansion.

Ø LTE 10M or more spectrum and Guard band deployment without legal risk, Guard band can be considered (not actively push this deployment mode).

Standalone deployment can be expanded by increasing spectrum resources, and In-band deployment can be expanded by increasing the number of RBs allocated to NB-IoT.
