When creating tier-1 storage or tier-2 storage for a file system, set relevant parameters based on the descriptions provided in this section.

Table 1 Parameter Description

Parameter

Description

Setting

Name

This parameter indicates the name of the new file system.

NOTE:

The file name must be unique, consisting of character strings only.

Example:

fs_01

Capacity

This parameter indicates the capacity of the new file system.

NOTE:

The capacity of the new file system cannot be larger than that of the specified file storage pool or that provided by the data disk.

Example:

10 GB

Layout

This parameter indicates the layout of the new file system. The value can be Simple, Striped, Mirrored and Mirrored-Stripe.

NOTE:
  • If Layout is Striped, the number of data disks selected or the number of data disks in the file storage pool must be no smaller than Stripe Quantity.
  • If Layout is Mirrored-Stripe, Mirror Quantity depends on Protection Type. If Protection Type is File Storage Pool, the number of file storage pools selected must be no smaller than Mirror Quantity. If Protection Type is Data Disk, the number of data disks selected or the number of data disks in the file storage pool must be no smaller than the product of Stripe Quantity and Mirror Quantity. When the file system is successfully created, one mirror exists in the system by default.
  • Mirrored-Stripe ensure the redundancy of the files and shorten the recovery time if a disk failure occurs.

Example:

Mirrored

Protection Type

This parameter indicates the protection type of the new file system. The value can be File Storage Pool or Data Disk.

  • File Storage Pool: Created file system mirrors are saved in different file storage pools.
  • Data Disk: Created file system mirrors are saved on different data disks.
NOTE:
  • The default value is Data Disk.
  • Prerequisite: The value of Layout is Mirroredor Mirrored-Stripe.

Example:

Data Disk

Mirror Quantity

This parameter indicates the number of mirrors of the new file system.

NOTE:
  • The value of Mirror Quantity must be a positive integer that is larger than 1
  • Prerequisite: The value of Layout is Mirroredor Mirrored-Stripe.

Example:

2

Stripe Unit

This parameter indicates the stripe unit of the new file system. The value can be 128 KB, 256 KB, 512 KB, 1 MB, or 2 MB.

NOTE:
  • The value of Stripe Unit must be smaller than the capacity of the specified file system.
  • The value of Stripe Unit must be smaller than the capacity of the specified data disk or file storage pool.
  • Prerequisite: The value of Layout is Stripedor Mirrored-Stripe.

Example:

512 KB

Stripe Quantity

This parameter indicates the number of stripes of the new file system.

NOTE:
  • The value of Stripe Quantity must be a positive integer that is larger than 1
  • Prerequisite: The value of Layout is Stripedor Mirrored-Stripe.

Example:

2

Storage Type

This parameter indicates the storage type of the new file system. The value can be File Storage Pool or Data Disk.

  • File Storage Pool: Created file system mirrors are saved in different file storage pools.
  • Data Disk: Creates file systems on specified data disks.

Example:

File Storage
