When creating a RAID group, set relevant parameters based on the descriptions provided in this section.

Parameter Description

Parameter

Description

Setting

Name

This parameter indicates the name of the new RAID group.

When setting the name of the new RAID group, note the following:
  • The name of the RAID group must be unique.
  • The name of the RAID group consists of DBC-case alphabetic letters, DBC-case numbers, hyphens, underscores.
  • This name of the RAID group ranges from 1 to 32 characters.

Disk Type

This parameter indicates the disk type of the new RAID group.

-

Level

This parameter indicates the level of the new RAID group.

NOTE:

The read and write performance and security performance vary with the level of the RAID group.

The value of this parameter can be:
  • RAID 0
  • RAID 1
  • RAID 3
  • RAID 5
  • RAID 6
  • RAID 10
  • RAID 50
The default RAID group level is RAID 5.

Sub-Group Disks

This parameter is available only when you set the RAID Level to RAID 10 or RAID 50.
  • For RAID 10, this parameter indicates the number of hard disks in each RAID 1 subgroup in a RAID 10 group.
  • For RAID 50, this parameter indicates the number of hard disks in each RAID 5 subgroup in a RAID 50 group.
  • For RAID 10, the value of this parameter must be no less than 2, and can exactly divide the total number of member disks in the RAID group.
  • For RAID 50, the value of this parameter must be no less than 3, and can exactly divide the total number of member disks in the RAID group.

Auto

After you select Auto, the system indicates member disks automatically.

-

Manual

If you select Manual, specify the member disks of the RAID group in the free disk list.

-

Number of RAID group member disks

This parameter indicates the number of the specified number disk. This parameter is available only when Manual is selected.

-

Items

This parameter indicates the number of total disks.

-

Selected

This parameter indicates the number of disks in the RAID group.

-

Total Capacity (GB)

This parameter indicates the capacity of the selected disks.

The capacity of a RAID group is the total capacity of all member disks.

Thanks.
