Hello there

I'm trying to setup a vlan-mapping as mentioned in the following documentation.

https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/doc/EDOC1000178168/67f5f3d1/example-for-configuring-vlan-id-based-n1-vlan-mapping

I have 2 CPE connected to a Switch1. (see attached drawing).

One CPE tags vlan 10 to the switch1 and the other tags vlan 20.

Switch1 then tags both vlans upwards to Huawei-5720-EI.

The Huawei 5720-EI maps both vlans 10 and 20 into vlan 1100 where the gateway 172.16.1.1/24 is located.

If I only use one vlan-mapping as example "port vlan-mapping vlan 10 map-vlan 1100" then CPE1 is able to reach the gateway and vice versa.

But as soon if I add the second rule for vlan 20 "port vlan-mapping vlan 20 map-vlan 1100" then the connection between both CPE and Gw is offline.

If I remove the mapping for vlan10 then also CPE2 can connect to the Gw 172.16.1.1/24

I also tried it with link-type hybrid instead of trunk. But same behaviour.

I also tried another Switch series (6720-EI) but the same effect.

I think there is something I missed?

I just need to map several vlans into one vlan so that all hosts are able to reach each other. I also tried to solve this with "aggregate-vlan" but I think the vlan-mapping would be the better choice for us.

Or is there another best practice solution for this setup?

Any ideas?

Regards

Simon

Hi,
You have the wrong application.
In your situation, when both vlan 10 and 20 are mapped to vlan 1100, then how the switch understand which vlan should be the destination when the traffic comes back from the vlan 1100.
You need change your configuration. As you described, you can use the VLAN aggregation. Or you can configure only one vlan mapping(suppose map vlan 10 to vlan 1100), and set the default vlan of interface XG0/0/1 switch 1 to vlan 20, and set the default vlan of XG0/0/1 S5720-EI to vlan 1100.

Hi

Thanks alot for your support.

This really makes sense.

I was just confused about the official example from the huawei page but now i see there is a topic in relation to aggregated vlan which is not part in that configuration.

Thanks for help!
