Hello guys,

I have a problem with my ar1220ev router. when my laptop is connected to the router, the link is intermittent. but if directly connected to l2switch without via router ar1220ev the link is normal. and also i test ping from huawei to cisco intermittent, but if i bypass without via router ar1220ev link is normal.

there is the topology :

is the cause because of the difference of mtu?

Aceng

@aceng Hi,
Would you please check the interface on AR1220EV which connect to the L2 switch, please confirm if there are any error packets on the interface and the duplex of the interface.

Hi,
The maximum transmission unit (MTU) of Layer 3 interfaces is configurable. The MTU of Layer 2 interfaces is not configurable.
 A longer queue buffers more packets but introduces a longer delay.

If congestion intermittently occurs on a network, buffering more packets prevents unnecessary packet loss. If congestion constantly occurs on a network, increasing the queue length cannot solve this problem. You need to increase the bandwidth.

Thanks

Hi,

I think there is no problem with bandwith, i just so confused, why if i integrated l2switch with laptop, link is normal, but if i integrate with huawei ar1220 on l3 interface the link is intermittent. any idea? is there an additional configruation to fix this?

Disable the MTU configuration on the inbound interface or run the ip soft-forward enhance enable command to enable the enhanced IP forwarding function on the router.
