Here, on the Huawei Enterprise Community, we value passion and excellence in all forms Because of this reason, we've decided to interview our MVE members in order to get to know them better and find out what drives them the most in life.
This week we'll get to know more about Joao Vasconcelos, who is also known as@joao in the English Huawei Enterprise Community. He's a Network Specialist and a Networking Instructor: he has more than thirty years of experience in telecommunication and computer networks, but also a strong knowledge in IP , MPLS, VoIP and MetroEthernet technology. He also prides himself with being one of the few HCIE-certified instructors in Brazil.
Q1. How would you describe yourself in only three words?
Curious, observant, conciliator
Q2. Choices define us. Why did you choose a technical path?
Since I was a kid, I always wanted to know how things work.
Q3. What do you enjoy the most about your field?
I always have something new to learn.
Q4. What do you enjoy the least about your field?
To teach and learn.
Q5. What was the most challenging part about a project you were working on, in the past?
It wasn't exactly a project, but when I started working with IP (Internet) networks in the middle-1990s.
Q6. What about your favorite part?
To really start from zero, because at the time, I did know nothing about IP, although I already had a good knowledge of data transmission and protocols, the IP world was totally new to me.
Q7. What professional certification are your most proud of and why?
HCIE, because it represents my high knowledge.
Q8. What was your motivation to pass this certification?
Personal goal and professional recognition.
Q9. How did you prepare for the exams?
Self-studies and a lot of labs, also I already had HCIA and HCIP certifications and other vendors certifications too.
Q10. Do you feel like this certification has helped you encounter better career opportunities? If yes, how?
Not really in my case, I am 60 years old and in the last years I had focused mainly in training activities.
Q11. What about your work? Tell us about a moment when you achieved something great!
As I said earlier, my main activity today is to provide training in the networks area. I am the first and as far as I know, the only HCIE certified instructor in Brazil.
Q12. Do you have any advice for those who are initiates in the technical domain?
First of all, make sure you really like the area, as the challenges will be great. If you're sure, study, study and study.
Q13. Where do you see yourself five years from now?
In a classroom, teaching technology to young people, as I already do now.
Q14. What do you like the most about being a member of the MVE team?
The opportunity to exchange information and knowledge with other members and help the community in solving problems.
