The Most Valued Engineers: you see them almost every day on our community: sharing valuable technical knowledge, lending a hand to the other users' technical queries, always being eager to help the community in any form.
Here, on the Huawei Enterprise Community, we value passion and excellence in all forms Because of this reason, we've decided to interview our MVE members in order to get to know them better and find out what drives them the most in life.
This week we'll get to know more about Ihtesham Raza, also known as @Ihteshamraza in the English Huawei Enterprise Community. He's a HCIE - skilled Executive Engineer working in Dubai, with past experience in programming, marketing and entrepreneurship. He also posseses a wide range of skills in systems installation, configuration, upgrading and maintenance
Q1. How would you describe yourself in only three words?
Enthusiastic about learning
Q2. Choices define us. Why did you choose a technical path?
I’ve always been into computers and technology since my childhood. This has always been my dream.
Q3. What do you enjoy the most about your field?
Solving problems, that’s one of the best things about my field. Solving critical problems is what I love about my field.
Q4. What do you enjoy the least about your field?
That’s a tough one. The part where someone (customer probably) who doesn’t know about your field tries to tell you that you are not doing something right.
Q5. What was the most challenging part about a project you were working on, in the past?
Well I had 3 critical projects going on with customers A, B & C. There was a time when I was needed on all 3 sites at the same time. That was pretty challenging but, in the end, it was all managed well. Being physically at one site, working remotely for two other customers as well.
Q6. What about your
favorite part?
Well same challenging part became my favorite one once we were through those projects. It was so critical but I learned so many things in that time.
Q7. What professional certification are your most proud of and why?
HCIE Storage, because quite frankly it was one of the toughest exams I've ever taken. I had to work really hard to become certified. I remember studying and practicing 24 hours for this. Written, Lab and then Interview. I consider this a milestone in my career.
Q8. What was your motivation to pass this certification?
Learning new things, I had heard that this is one of the hardest certifications from Huawei, so I wanted to take this challenge to myself.
Q9. How did you prepare for the exams?
Study, research, practice. I studied many books for this, I explored many articles on internet. I had OceanStor products in my office. I’d sit there till night to practice. I’d go to a local Huawei office and practice in their labs. I took some guidance from ones who had passed this exam before. This is a short summary of how I prepared for this certification.
Q10. Do you feel like this certification has helped you encounter better career opportunities? If yes, how?
Well yes, getting an HCIE means that you are an expert in that particular field. And when you are HCIE certified, you are recognized as an expert. It has surely made my position better; I haven’t particularly explored new opportunities but it has surely boosted my confidence and career.
Q11. What about your work? Tell us about a moment when you achieved something great!
Can’t specify any, not sure how to define great. But there have been many moments where I felt really proud of my work.
Q12. Do you have any
advice for those who are initiates in the technical domain?
Never stop learning, otherwise you’ll be left behind. Technology is moving too fast. If you don’t upgrade yourself, you are done. Technologies come and vanish. Don’t just stick to one field. Learn new things. Learn those things which will define future. Experiment with your skills. For instance, learn Cloud Computing, AI, SDN, Virtualization & DC Storage. These fields are going to define your future.
Q13. Where do you see yourself five years from now?
To be honest I’m not sure. Personally, I do not stick to one thing. Maybe I’ll learn a new skill and try my luck into that. Maybe I’ll totally shift my career. I love to try new things so I can’t tell for now.
Q14. What do you like the most about being a member of the MVE team?
Well, a lot of things, but the best thing about being an MVE is that I have met a lot of different skilled and expert people. We get to know fellow MVEs and forum admins. When I’m really able to solve someone’s problem in the forum, that’s when I feel I have played my role as an MVE.
In the Huawei Enterprise Community, we value skills, talents and passion for the technical area. If you feel like you’re a great fit for the MVE team, do not hesitate to apply through this link: https://forum.huawei.com/enterprise/en/join-the-mve-team/thread/553593-100289
