Multicast Traffic on WLAN Scenarios

For scenarios where you want to configure multicast traffic to be transmitted in a WLAN environment and have high requirements, you may see multicast traffic reaching successfully the AP but you can experience packet loss in the wireless link.

This may be caused because when multicast streams are forwarded, they do not have an error detection system. The streams are just sent and no ACK is expected so if a packet is lost, it won't be retransmitted. This may cause a low quality in scenarios that have high requirements on multicast stream trasmissions, such as a high-definition video on-demand scenario.

For these cases we suggest to enable the function of converting multicast packets to unicast packets in a traffic profiles. That will permit AP to have an error detection system and send more three time the packets that are lost in wireless environment. Hence this will improve the quality of the transmission.
