Hello friend, I want to share with you my experience when installing a network element and we will take the OSN 3500 as an example.
Overall Process
To install the cards in the subrack, the latter must be already installed in the cabinet and use ESD protection. The PGND cable must be installed before the installation of boards and other cables. Ensure that the names of the boards to be installed and the slots meet the specified requirements. All power, fiber optic and electrical cables must be properly marked.
1. Focus on the following areas
The method of installing the board must be correct. If the board cannot be installed, do not push the board into the subrack. Prevents bent pins on the backplane of the subrack. After the boards are installed, the panels of all boards must be on the same plane.
2. Location of the air conditioner
Air conditioners must not be installed above equipment and must not blow directly towards equipment. Air conditioners must be installed away from windows as far as possible to prevent blowing damp and cold air to equipment. Well, the heat that the cards give off if the cold air hits them directly causes condensation of the water and over time the electronic components and the board that supports them are damaged.
3. Ground o the equipment
Very important is to ground the cabinet and the subrack. Usually, the earth resistance of the telecommunication site where the base station equipment is located is recommended to be less than 10 ohms. It also should comply with the relative stipulation of the country. In my country 6 ohm is required. If the device is not properly grounded, the device may fail to discharge static electricity, and bit errors may occur in link.
