Hi friends,  in MPLS VPN option C  MPLS & LDP is already running b/w PE & ASBR means labeled route are forwarding then why we use this command     peer   label-route-capability ?

& whats the functions of  label-route-capability check-tunnel-reachable ?  we using in Option C.

and why using route-policy in option C for label assigning?   Thanks

@LSA hello

BGP wouldn't forward the labeled routes by default, while peer label-route-capability will enable this function.

label-route-capability check-tunnel-reachable would enable the router to check the remote reachability of the tunnel, the router only advertise the labled route when the remote peer is reachable.

route policy used in option C enables the router to assign labels for the routes and forward it to the IBGP peer, so that the VPN tunnel could be established, or the data forwarding plane wouldn't work though the routing plane could advertise the routes successfully.

thanks @chenhui you mean in option C we are using simple IBGP b/w PE to ASBR not VPNV4 Peering ..that's why use peer label-route-capability command?if we used VPNV4 PE to ASBR then no need of this command ?....then what the advantage not using VPNV4 peering in option C? thanks in advance.

Hi @LSA,
Yes, PE and ASBR establish the normal IBGP peer in option C, VPNv4 peer only established between the PEs or RRs.
If VPNv4 neighbor relationship established between PE and ASBR, then it's option B, not ever option C any more.
