You can use any of the following solutions to set up a cluster: server solution, virtual machine solution, and all computer simulation solution.
Server Solution
A server solution indicates that high performance servers and disk array servers are deployed to set up a cluster. This solution is known for fast device responses and high service processing efficiency. A typical server combination for this solution is two high performance servers plus one disk array server.
A disk array server is also called a disk chassis or disk array.
So far, the service Management System 2.0 (SMC2.0) only can use Server Solution to set up a cluster. There are two RH2288 servers and one S2600 V3 disk array server in SMC2.0 failover cluster.
Virtual Machine Solution
In a virtual machine solution, multiple virtual servers are installed on one physical server using the virtualization software and function as master and slave node servers.
In the Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system, the embedded Hyper-V virtualization module can be used to install virtual servers.
All Computer Simulation Solution
In an all computer simulation solution, low-cost high performance computers instead of clustered servers are used to set up a cluster.
