Main Functions of the Universal Transcoding MCU
1. Participants with any protocols, formats and bandwidths can be connected to a conference.
Huawei's universal transcoding MCU, based on a powerful hardware platform, allocates independent resources to each participant's terminal and allows terminals with any brands, models and standard protocols to join a conference. You can use a universal transcoding MCU to hold a conference involving telepresence systems, HD endpoints, SD endpoints, videophones, desktop soft clients and mobile soft clients anytime anywhere.
2. Ports can be flexibly allocated.
To make full use of resources and increase the return on investment (ROI), Huawei's universal transcoding MCU supports flexible port allocation. For example, if the maximum capability of one MCU is universal transcoding of 8 channels of 1080p30 participants, the MCU can connect four channels of 1080p60 universal transcoding participants, 16 channels of 720p30 universal transcoding participants, or 4 channels of 1080p30 universal transcoding participants and 8 channels of 720p30 universal transcoding participants.
Remarks - the conversion of resource usage in different formats:
1 channel 1080p60 = 2-channel 1080p30 = 4-channel 720p30 = 8-channel SD(4CIF)
3. Five ad-hoc conference scheduling modes are supported.
Huawei's universal transcoding MCU supports all types of ad-hoc conferences. A user can dial the number of an ad hoc conference or enter the number of an ad hoc conference by following the interactive voice response (IVR) instructions to activate the ad hoc conference. The following conference scheduling modes are supported:
A. a user creates a conference and calls or waits for terminals to join the conference on the MCU UI.
B. a user joins a conference by dialing the defined conference ID.
C. a user calls the MCU, enters the lobby and then selects a conference to join through the IVR, DTMF, or far end camera control (FECC).
D. a user joins a predefined conference. Then the MCU starts to call other conference participants.
E. a user schedules a conference on the MCU UI.
4. Presentation adaptation is supported.
Terminals with different presentation capabilities and those without the presentation capability are connected to the conference concurrently. Huawei's universal transcoding MCU supports intelligent adaptation. For terminals without the presentation capability, the MCU uses the video channel to transmit presentations, can add presentations to the CP and enables the highest compatibility with different participants. The MCU supports adaptation of H.263, H.263+, H.264 BP/HP and TIP presentations and ensures that terminals of any types and with any capabilities can share presentation data.
5. CP per port is supported.
The CP per port capability allows participants in a conference to view different CP views, regardless of the device model (capability) and vendor.
6. Automatic CP is supported.
After a participant joins a conference, the participant automatically views the CP. Each participant views different CP views. When other participants join the conference, the videos of these participants are automatically added to the CP views of original participants.
