Dear Everyone,

Newly enabled PON ports and troubleshooting
All users connected to the PON port fail to go online.

Onsite maintenance engineers detect that optical signals exist on the main fiber, and the optical signals of the PON port can be viewed on the OLT side. However, all devices connected to the PON port cannot go online. Check the optical port status on the OLT. A signal detection fault is displayed. The shutdown/no shutdown command is invalid.
Restarting the slot affects services. Risky operations are not attempted.  I don't know what causes this situation and how to handle it.

Is it because the OLT cannot receive the upstream optical transmission from the downstream ONT, or is the software and hardware of the optical module faulty?

Hello, friend!


You can run the display port status command to check whether the PON port of the OLT emits light. 


If the RX value is about +1 to +5 dBm, it is normal.


If all the ONTs connected to a PON port are offline, the PON port is offline. Therefore, it cannot be used to determine whether the PON port is faulty.


The receive optical power of the ONU ranges from –8 dBm to 27 dBm. You can use an optical power meter to measure the optical attenuation of the pigtail. 


If the optical path is normal, check whether the optical module of the ONU is faulty.
