Low active power on sunny days

HiCoins as reward: 0 (problem unresolved)

Hi,

I have a strange problem with my newly installed system. On bright sunny days one of the two strings does not perform as I'd expect it. The DC voltage is going up to ~500+ V but the DC current is running at a maximum of 0.5ish A.

The other string is doing ok.

On cloudy days both strings run pretty much fine.

I have to admit that my roof isn't perfect and the panels are in are in a -99/+81 azimuth setup mounted on frames with a 16degree angle. This could be part of the problem but I doubt it can really explain it.

The setup consists of 28 Longi 375W modules (2 Strings a 14 modules) with a SUN2000-10KTL-M1.

I really struggle to understand what the problem could be. Is this config or hardware or anything else?

I'd really appreciate any hint.

As a first step I received new firmware for the inverter (SPC140) and the battery (SPC106). I need to wait for a sunny day now to see if there is any improvement.

Check whether there is a power limit setting or blocking in sunny days. I think it's a blocking problem.

Hi Tang_li,

I did check the settings but did not find anything obvious. Which settings would you think could explain such a behaviour?

Kind regards

Ok - today was a nice day as it was pretty foggy in the morning but became a bright sunny day after noon. It looks like the inverter is not having a problem but rather the modules or the overall setup is poor. As soon as I get bright sun one string is reducing the current, instead of increasing. This is really odd. (no comments on my "artwork" please :-))

Are you sure the photovoltaic panels on site are not blocked?I think PV2 is probably blocked. On a cloudy day, PV1, and PV2 have the same light. When sunlight comes out, the shadow blocks the PV2 panel.

This is my suspicion too but neither a simulation nor observation would proof such a significant drop in my opinion. I am in contact with the installer too, of course to assess whether their design is really the design I need for my roof. I will attach a picture of the roof later.
@Tang_li would you think that that string 1 (left hand side) do block string 2 in a way that it could explain the signifigant drop? I do not expect that string 2 would deliver the same power but what they do is almost nothing.

Hello, friend.
You can't see anything based on the picture, the most effective and direct way is to suggest that you seek the help of a PV center to locate the cause. Send an email to the following email address, describing your problem and attaching your SN number.

You can switch PV1 to the PV2 port on the inverter,
Switch the original PV2 port to the PV1 port on the inverter.
Check whether the PV string is changed after the PV string is replaced. If it is moved, the problem is on the pv.

Hi - I did so and the problem moved ... hence the inverter is fine and it is the PV.

OK, check the PV. I guess string 1 (left-hand side) was the one input to inverter PV 2 port before
