Hello all, dear forum members

Today I will talk about an important term not only in the field of communications, but we use it in many fields.

It is the loops, If you want to check any path, you must first create a loop on it to make sure the path is in good condition, It is important to think of loop term when working on troubleshooting, this feature is supported by many Huawei devices due to its importance in the maintenance process.

Let's review with photos how to use the loopback on some Huawei devices that support loopback.

There is  two types of loops

A-Hard Loop.

B-soft Loop.

Due to the importance of the loops, we will find them available on most Huawei devices,It helps you a lot in troubleshooting, and it can't be dispensed with.

A-Hard loops.

You can create hard loops by connecting the wires of the transmitting and receiving lines together on the circuit.

by this way you can test the E1 path or the alarm path.

1- Use Hard  Loop on EMU to testing alarm.

For example, if you configure the AC alarm on the EMU and want to test it, you can loop in slot 15 on the EMU, the alarm should clear if you open the Loop, the alarm will return.

2- Use Hard  loop to testing optical and T1/E1.

The loopback test is a very effective method for isolating a failed T1 or E1, It helps you a lot in getting to the cause of the failure

B-soft loops.

software loop interrupts services so it may be released automatically within a period software loopback may be automatically released within a period

1- Use MacLoop to testing Ethernet port on BTS.

They are commands to test the equipment as it automatically sends traffic towards the sender.

If you have a CRC in the Ethernet traffic and you want to test the port, you can run a SET MACLOOP to test the Ethernet port.

2- Use E1 loop on RTN for troubleshooting.

From Configuration >> PDH interface

you can create a soft loop on E1 that you want to test by selecting (inLoop) and it automatically sends traffic towards the sender.

3- IF & RF  Loopback.

From Diagnosis & Maintenance >> Microwave link Loopback.

RF Loopback : Indicates that the RF signals sent to the opposite end are repeated again.

IF Loopback: indicates that the ODU signals are repeated back in the direction of the sender

these two loops give you the ability to accurately determine the faults.

4- Lookback on Ethernet interface.

From  Configuration >> Interface Management >> Ethernet Interface .

The Ethernet port MAC inloop is a process in which Ethernet frame signals are repeated back at the board's interface unit  toward the packet-switched unit.
