Before using the DeviceManager, check whether the maintenance terminal meets the DeviceManager's requirements, as listed below:

[Logging in to the DeviceManager in SVP Mode]

To log in to the DeviceManager Management Console in service processor (SVP) mode, use the keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM) on system bay 0 to operate the SVP. Alternatively, access the SVP using the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) on the maintenance terminal connected to the SVP.

Prerequisites

  • The communication is correct between the maintenance terminal and the SVP.

  • To use a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) domain user account to log in to the DeviceManager, configure the LDAP server first, then set the LDAP server parameters and create an LDAP domain user account on the DeviceManager.

Procedure

 1. Log in to the SVP server.

     1. Use the KVM to log in to the SVP.

         1. Enable the KVM.

         2. On the SVP login page, enter the user name and password.

The default user name and password of the SVP are Administrator and Admin@storage respectively.

         3. Press Enter. The SVP main window is displayed.

     2. Use the maintenance terminal to remotely log in to the SVP.

         1. Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories > Remote Desktop Connection. The Remote Desktop Connection dialog box is displayed.

         2. In Computer, type the IP address of the SVP management network port and press Enter.

         3. On the SVP login page, enter the user name and password.

The default user name and password of the SVP are Administrator and Admin@storage respectively.

         4. Press Enter. The SVP main window is displayed.

2. On the SVP main window, double-click .

The browser may display that the website has a security certificate error. Ignore this error and continue the access if the entered IP address is correct.

3. Click Login. The DeviceManager login page is displayed.

During the login, a dialog box may be displayed on the interface indicating that the application's digital signature cannot be validated and asking whether to run the application.

  • If you click Run, you can log in to the DeviceManager successfully. You are advised to select Always trust this distributor. Otherwise, this dialog box will be displayed again upon the next login.

  • If you click Cancel, you cannot log in to the DeviceManager.

4. In the User Name and Password text boxes, enter the user name and password for login. In the Verification Code text box, enter the four-digit verification code as displayed.

  • If LDAP domain user is selected, the user name and password must be a domain user name and password. The default user name and password of the super administrator are admin and Admin@storage respectively.

  • If you forget your password, ask the super administrator to reset the password. If you forget the user name or password of the super administrator account, contact Huawei technical support.

  • If the number of consecutive times that incorrect passwords are entered reaches wrong times specified on the Password Policy Management page, the account is automatically locked for the length of time specified by Lock Time.

  • You are advised to change the default login password immediately after you have logged in to the storage system for the first time, and to periodically change your login password. This operation reduces password leakage risks. For details, see "Changing the Password".

5. Click Login.

The DeviceManager management page is displayed.
