Hello everyone,

Today I will share with you Log transfer.

Dumping online logs

Log dumping can greatly save storage space. Therefore, the log dumping function shall be enabled. You can manually dump logs immediately or set log dumping conditions so that the system automatically dumps online logs when the conditions are met.

Manual dumping

When the log dumping is enabled, you can manually dump online logs by setting Online log storage days on the log dumping page. After the settings take effect, the system automatically dumps the logs with the storage duration exceeding Online log storage days to the dumped log storage space.

The manual dumping parameters take effect only once.

Auto dumping

When the log dumping function is enabled, the system automatically dumps the logs if any of the following conditions are met:

  • The storage duration of the earliest logs in the online log storage space exceeds the specified Online log storage days.

  • The ratio of the space occupied by all log files in the online log storage space to the size of the online log storage space exceeds the specified Online log dumping threshold(%).

  • The available space of the online log storage space is smaller than 16 GB. (The 16 GB space is set for protecting the dumped log storage space against uncontrollable unknown issues caused by full space occupation.)

<?xml:namespace prefix = "v" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" />

Note that the LogCenter does not dump logs generated in the current day.
If the online log storage space contains only logs generated on the current day, the first two rules for automatic dumping are not applicable.
If the logs generated on the current day fully occupy the online log storage space (the available space is smaller than 16 GB), the LogCenter stops receiving or discards new logs and generates the corresponding alarms.

To prevent the case in which logs suddenly occupy the entire space and you cannot handle this case in a timely manner, the LogCenter provides the Online log space alarm threshold(%) parameter. When the usage of the online log storage space reaches this threshold, the LogCenter generates an alarm, so that you can take proper measures to handle the full space occupation issue.

Note that the Online log space alarm threshold(%) must be smaller than the Online log dumping threshold(%). Otherwise, this threshold does not take effect.

Dumped log backup

When the remote backup function is enabled, the system automatically backs up the logs remotely if any of the following conditions are met:

  • The storage duration of the earliest logs in the dumped log storage space exceeds the specified threshold (Total storage days for online and dumped logs - Online log storage days).

  • The ratio of the space occupied by all log files in the dumped log storage space to the size of the dumped log storage space exceeds the specified Dumped log deletion threshold(%).

  • The available space of the dumped log storage space is smaller than 8 GB. (The 8 GB space is set for protecting the dumped log storage space against uncontrollable unknown issues caused by full space occupation.)

To prevent the case in which logs suddenly occupy the entire space and you cannot handle this case in a timely manner, the LogCenter provides the Dumped log space alarm threshold(%) parameter. When the usage of the dumped log storage space reaches this threshold, the LogCenter generates an alarm, so that you can take proper measures to handle the full space occupation issue.

Note that the Dumped log space alarm threshold(%) must be smaller than Dumped log deletion threshold(%). Otherwise, this threshold does not take effect.

In Modify Log Storage, select Backup dumped logs to be deleted to enable the remote backup function. After the remote backup function is enabled, set the remote server to an FTP/SFTP server, and provide the configured destination path, FTP/SFTP account password, and use port information to the LogCenter administrator to configure specific remote backup policies.

Disabling log dumping and remote backup

  • If the log dumping function is disabled, the manual dumping and automatic dumping do not take effect. If the immediate manual dumping function is enabled at this time, an alarm requesting to be ignored is generated.

  • If the log dumping function is disabled, the LogCenter automatically deletes logs generated on the earliest day from the online log storage space if online logs trigger any of the preceding dumping conditions.

Enabling the log dumping function but disabling the remote backup function

If the remote backup function is disabled, the LogCenter automatically deletes logs generated on the earliest day from the dumped log storage space if dumped logs trigger any of the preceding remote backup conditions.

That is all I want to share with you!
