the linked clone technology allows multiple VM's to share the same base disk of the parent VM . each cloned vm has a delta disk to record change to the system disk of the parent vm . the customized configuration are saved in c:\user ( windows 7 ) and the customized applications are saved in c:\program files . the base disk and the delta disk constitute the system disk ( that is drive C ) of the linked clone vm
the linked clone pooled disktop supports dynamic and static pooled desktop
dynamic pool : a user group corresponds to a desktop pool . but no fixed binding relationship exists between vm's in the desktop pools and users . each user has acess to any vm in the desktop pool
static pool : a user group corresponds to a desktop pool . the system allocates a vm from the desktop pool randomly to a user attempting to log in to the desktop for the first time . the user can acess the vm only
