Hello everyone!

Today, I’d like to share a case.

Problem Description

FH ONT license lack. Customer is doing tests with other brand ONTs. They already tested the Spanish brand Observa and no problem, however when they tried to test with FiberHome ONT, the U2000 server showed a message that ONT cannot go online because "lack of third party ONT license".
After connecting FH ONT to the OLT, U2000 blocks the connection with a message of third party ONT lacking.
Customer cannot do tests with other brands ONTs and already raised a major complaint against us.

Problem Analysis

It was checked that previously ONT Fiberhome works normally with U2000 server, even though there are no Third-party ONT licenses installed on the U2000 server. However after upgrading the testing OLT from V800R010C00SPH106 to V800R015C00, the FiberHome ONT cannot go online and U2000 server shows the message "Lack Third-Party ONT license"

Root Cause

From OLT version V800R011, it was implemented the third-party ONT license control. Mechanism works as follows:

1) OLT will detect a third-party ONT attached to it and report to U2000 server

2) U2000 server will check if there's third-party ONT license install

2.1) If there's third-party ONT license, the U2000 will instruct OLT to keep the ONT online

2.2) If there's no third-party ONT license, the U2000 will instruct OLT to offline the ONT and cut the service

That's why after upgrading the OLT to V800R015 the issue arose.

Solution Description

The problem is that customer use the third-part ONT connect to OLT, and it is offline. OLT begin to control the third-part ONT from V8R11 version. so from V8R11, OLT will detect the third-part ONT, and offline the ONT, But if U2000 have the license LNSDPTPTR01, U2000 will send a command to OLT that don’t offline the ONT, keep the third-part ONT online. If u2000 don’t have this license, then U2000 won’t send command to OLT, so OLT will control the third-part ONT offline.
Apply the follow llicense in U2000: Per Third-party ONT Basic Interoperability License : LNSDPTPTR01.

Suggest

Basically the solution is to instruct the customer to buy third-party ONT licenses in order to ensure correct function.
